  • ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama

This is the second design in our Desecrated Coffin range from Novaminis, and it brings a level of narrative weight that goes well beyond a simple prop. The coffin itself is beautifully sculpted with deeply textured wood-grain panelling — the kind of detail that makes a painted piece look genuinely weathered and aged. Inside lies a full skeleton, articulated and posed within the lined interior, with the lid designed to open away from the body so both states can be displayed: sealed and ominous, or open and awakened.

Whether you're dressing a vampire's crypt, populating a necromancer's lair, or setting the scene for a Ravenloft session, this piece tells a story the moment it hits the table. It works brilliantly as scatter terrain that doubles as a trigger for roleplaying — is the skeleton restless? Newly risen? Still in its grave? That question is entirely yours to answer. Equally striking as a display piece for collectors who love gothic and undead-themed dioramas.

Suited to adventurers who:

  • Run dungeon crawls, haunted crypts, or graveyard encounters and want terrain with real atmosphere
  • Are building a Ravenloft, Curse of Strahd, or undead-themed campaign setting
  • Want scatter terrain that doubles as a conversation piece on the shelf
  • Love to paint gothic details — aged wood grain, bone, and decaying interiors reward careful brushwork

Encounter Hook:
The party has been hired to recover a nobleman's signet ring from a sealed family mausoleum. Three coffins line the walls. Two are nailed shut. The third — this one — is already open, the skeleton inside sitting upright, one bony hand resting on the stone floor as if it had just pushed itself to its feet moments before you arrived.
