Description

Two heads lifted, two sets of jaws agape — the death dog doesn't hunt, it converges, and its victims rarely survive long enough to describe the difference.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

This is the second sculpt in Novaminis' Death Dog range, and it brings a different energy to the first — where variant 01 may crouch or stalk, this Death Dog 02 is caught mid-stride, body coiled with forward momentum, one clawed paw raised as it lunges. Both heads are fully sculpted with wide-open mouths and rows of jagged teeth, one snarling low while the other howls upward — a detail that immediately communicates the creature's disorienting dual nature at the table. The mane between the two necks is dense with layered, feather-like fur texture that contrasts sharply against the smoother flanks and haunches, giving painters plenty of variety to work with.

Death dogs in D&D are Medium monstrosities most commonly found as guardians of dark temples, roaming the Underdark, or serving as enforcers for warlords and cults. Their two-headed design isn't just cosmetic — each bite carries the risk of a festering disease, making even a single death dog a genuine threat to low-level parties. A pack of two or three in close quarters can very quickly reshape an encounter's tone. This sculpt captures that menace without resorting to exaggeration — the threat is in the posture, the teeth, and the sense that both heads are already choosing their target.

The level of surface detail across the sculpt — from the individual claws to the layered mane to the musculature of the haunches — makes this an engaging piece to paint whether you're blocking in a quick tabletop scheme or taking it further for a display shelf.

Adventurers who'll want this mini:

  • Dungeon Masters building cultist lairs, Underdark wandering encounter tables, or dark temple guardians
  • Players running Rangers or Druids whose lore brushes up against monstrous beasts
  • Collectors who appreciate well-textured creature sculpts with genuine character
  • Anyone pairing death dogs with undead handlers or fiendish warlords for a thematic warband

Encounter Hook: The party tracks a missing merchant caravan to an abandoned waystation on the edge of the marshes. The wagons are overturned, the horses long gone — but in the mud, two sets of overlapping paw prints circle the wreckage. Before anyone can call for a Perception check, both heads rise above the treeline at once, and the growling begins from two directions simultaneously.
