The Dead Watchman 02 is a prone, fully recumbent figure — a city guard struck down mid-duty. He lies face-up, legs slightly bent, one arm outstretched with an upturned open hand as if grasping at nothing. His sculpted studded leather armour is detailed with rivet work and cross-laced stitching across the torso and arms. A brimmed iron helmet rests beside his turned head, separated from his body as though knocked free in the struggle. Sturdy, heavily-soled boots complete the look of a working soldier of the watch — someone who walked these streets every night, until tonight.
This is the second variation in Novaminis' Dead Watchman series. Where variant 01 offers a different posture or orientation, this sculpt places the guardsman squarely on his back, arms slightly spread, lending itself particularly well to dramatic crime-scene and aftermath storytelling. The detail across the armour — each rivet, each stitched seam — gives painters a wealth of surface texture to work with, and the flat pose makes him remarkably easy to base and display.
As a prone terrain-adjacent piece, he works equally well as scatter — a body on the floor of a corridor — or as a deliberate narrative focal point in a murder-mystery or heist scenario. Paint him in muted greys and browns for a grim city guard, or push the contrast on the leather armour for a display diorama centrepiece.
A great addition for adventurers who:
- Run urban campaigns with city watches, guilds, or criminal underworlds
- Need corpse markers or fallen NPC props for encounter storytelling
- Want atmospheric scatter to dress dungeon corridors, tavern floors, or alleyways
- Enjoy painting detailed armour textures and character-rich figures
- Are building a Ravenloft or gothic city setting with real narrative weight
Encounter Hook
The party turns into the alley behind the Merchant's Quarter and finds a city watchman face-up in a puddle — his helmet beside him, one hand outstretched, his purse untouched. No wounds are visible. The Investigation check reveals faint burns on his fingertips and a smell of sulphur. Someone, or something, wanted him out of the way tonight — and the party has three hours before the morning patrol finds the body.
Details
Dead Watchman 02 is a 32mm scale prone human figure, supplied unpainted and unassembled where applicable. The flat recumbent pose makes him straightforward to base on a standard rectangular or oval base. He is this second sculpt in the Dead Watchman series — collectors and Dungeon Masters building out their city encounter sets may wish to add variant 01 alongside him for additional variety.

The cats cannot help with the work. They have, however, rolled a natural 20 on Supervision.
