The Dead Watchman 01 is a facedown prone figure of a fallen city guard, sculpted with exceptional detail across every surface. He wears a studded leather brigandine with riveted shoulder pauldrons, cross-laced bracers, and thick leather boots — the everyday armour of a municipal guard who patrolled the streets until something stopped him. His round studded shield lies beside him, and his arms are stretched forward as though he dropped mid-stride. A close look at the sculpt reveals the texture of the leather, individual rivet heads, and the slack, heavy posture of a body that has given up the ghost entirely.

This is variation 01 of the Dead Watchman series — this pose has the figure lying flat on his front, shield beside him and arms outstretched, giving a distinct sense of sudden collapse. Other variants in the series offer alternative poses and positions for building out your fallen guard scenes.

As a prone scatter piece, the Dead Watchman earns his place at the table in countless ways — marking the spot where a fight happened, signposting danger, or serving as the inciting incident for an entire investigation arc. He paints up brilliantly as a gritty urban casualty, and makes a compelling addition to a graveyard or dungeon diorama.

This miniature is particularly well-suited for adventurers who:

  • Run urban intrigue or city-watch campaigns where crime scenes matter
  • Want realistic scatter pieces to populate streets, dungeons, or battlefields
  • Are building investigation encounters where the party must examine a body
  • Collect fallen soldier or casualty pieces for narrative dioramas
  • Want to mark downed NPCs or use prone condition markers in combat

Encounter Hook: The party enters the merchant district to find a guardsman face-down in the cobblestones, shield beside him, no obvious wound visible. The local watch has sealed off the alley — but someone in the growing crowd whispers that three other watchmen have turned up dead in the same way over the past fortnight, always at the boundary of the same noble's ward.
