Description

At the heart of the cursed wood stands a solitary dead tree — bark split, branches clawing at the sky, roots gripping the earth as though refusing to surrender to whatever darkness claimed it.

  • ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
  • ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
  • ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama

This Dead Tree scatter terrain piece by Mia Kay M3DM is a gnarled, leafless specimen with deeply textured bark, a hollow cavity in the trunk, and wide splaying roots that anchor it convincingly to any tabletop surface. The twisted silhouette reads immediately as foreboding — equally at home in a haunted forest, a blighted moor, or the outskirts of a cursed village. It's the kind of environmental detail that tells a story before a single die is rolled.

Whether your players are pushing through the Shadowfell, navigating a druidic wildland, or stumbling into a witch's clearing, a piece like this earns its place on the table. It also makes a compelling focal point for diorama builds and painted display pieces — the bark texture and hollow trunk reward careful drybrushing and wash work.

Well suited to adventurers who:

  • Build atmospheric wilderness, haunted forest, or blighted terrain setups
  • Want scatter pieces that add cover and visual storytelling to encounter maps
  • Enjoy painting detailed terrain as part of their hobby
  • Collect display-quality fantasy terrain alongside their miniature range

Encounter Hook:
The ranger was first to notice it — a hollow in the dead tree's trunk, just wide enough for a child to hide in. Inside, scratched into the blackened wood: a name, a date, and a warning that shouldn't have been possible to leave. Someone, or something, knew your party was coming.
