This is Dead Tree 01 from Novaminis, the first sculpt in their dead tree range. It's a full-sized terrain piece built to transform your battlemap from a flat grid into a location your players will remember. The trunk is deeply textured with cracked bark and gnarled surface detail, the exposed roots sprawl outward across the base, and the bare upper branches fork and twist in every direction — each one tapering to a sharp, claw-like tip. There's a hollow cavity partway up the trunk that catches the eye and invites speculation. What lives in there? What used to?
Whether you're staging an encounter in a cursed woodland, dressing a graveyard scene, or dropping your party into a blighted wilderness hex, this piece carries weight. It works equally well on a play table and as a standalone display piece — painted in ashen greys and bone tones, it holds its own on any shelf.
A good fit for adventurers who:
- Run wilderness, graveyard, or blighted forest encounters in D&D 5e or other TTRPGs
- Build immersive battlemaps and want terrain that tells a story on its own
- Paint and collect fantasy terrain pieces for display or diorama projects
- Want cover and line-of-sight features with strong visual character
Encounter Hook:
The druid insists the tree is watching them. She's said it twice now, quietly, and hasn't moved closer. When the ranger examines the hollow in the trunk, she finds a single obsidian arrowhead — still warm — and the bark around it has been freshly scored, as though something clawed its way out recently.
This piece is scaled to 32mm. A plain black base is available as an optional add-on and comes unattached — a small amount of glue will fix it in place. Supports are removed before dispatch; as with any high-detail terrain piece, minor marks from the printing process are possible and can be tidied up with a hobby knife before priming. The piece arrives fully cured and ready to prime and paint.
