Description

The forest fell silent long before the trees did — and some of them never truly died.

  • ✔ Resin terrain piece, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
  • ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
  • ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama

This is Dead Tree 01 from Novaminis, the first sculpt in their dead tree terrain range. What makes this piece so striking is how organic it feels: the bark is deeply furrowed and layered with texture, the exposed roots splay outward like grasping fingers, and the bare upper branches twist and fork like reaching claws. There's a suggestion of something almost sentient about its silhouette — which makes it equally useful as pure scatter terrain or as a focal point with a story of its own.

Whether you're building a blighted woodland, a cursed graveyard clearing, or the outskirts of a necromancer's domain, this tree carries atmosphere without requiring any explanation. It's the kind of terrain piece that makes players instinctively lower their voices when they see it on the table. Equally compelling as a display piece or diorama centrepiece, particularly once the deep bark texture catches a drybrush highlight.

Well suited for adventurers who:

  • Want atmospheric scatter terrain for forest, swamp, or undead-themed encounters
  • Are building a Ravenloft, blighted woodland, or wilderness battle map
  • Enjoy terrain painting projects with strong texture and deep relief
  • Display themed dioramas alongside their miniature collection

Encounter Hook:
The party's tracker spots something carved into the bark — a warning in Druidic, half-obscured by years of growth, that reads: do not sleep beneath this wood. As they study it, the roots begin, almost imperceptibly, to shift.

Scaled to 32mm to sit naturally alongside your miniatures. Available with or without a plain black base — the base ships unattached and can be fixed in place with a small amount of glue. Ready to prime and paint straight away, or display as-is. Novaminis sculpt with a painter's eye, and the bark detail on this piece holds washes and drybrushing beautifully.
