This is pose 03 of the Dark Knight range by Galaad Miniatures, and it brings something genuinely distinctive to the table. The figure stands in a broad, commanding stance, a heavily ornamented full-face helm crowned with a sunburst crest sitting atop articulated armour. A great twisted staff — its shaft wound with curling, almost organic flourishes — is gripped across the body, whilst the reverse angle reveals a large heraldic kite shield emblazoned with a sun motif in high relief, all flame and fury. A flowing cloak trails behind, wind-caught and ragged at the hem, lending the sculpt real movement and weight. Skull detailing adorns the gorget, and the overall silhouette reads immediately as fallen paladin, oathbreaker, or divine champion corrupted — a figure that was once on the side of the light.
Whether you run this as a blackguard who once served a solar deity, a corrupted Oath of Devotion paladin turned BBEG, or a rival knight whose fall from grace is the centrepiece of your arc, the sculpt carries the narrative without a single word needing to be said. Equally compelling as a display piece — the shield detail alone rewards a careful layered paint job.
A great choice for adventurers who:
- Need a fallen paladin or oathbreaker for a campaign climax or recurring antagonist role
- Are building a dark chivalric faction with visual coherence across the warband
- Want a boss-level humanoid that reads as dangerous and lore-laden at a glance
- Are collectors drawn to heavily detailed sculpts with strong thematic storytelling
Encounter Hook:
The party has been tracking the stolen Sunstone Reliquary for three sessions — and at the gates of the desecrated solar temple, they find it already mounted on the shield of a knight in ornate, sun-crested armour. He kneels before the dark altar, whispering the last rites of an oath being deliberately, irrevocably broken. He stands slowly, and turns to face them.
Details
Supplied at 32mm scale. The model and base are separate pieces — a small amount of superglue bonds them neatly. The base is decorative and worth fitting, as the sculpt's pose and cloak interact with it for a cohesive finish. Supplied unpainted and primed-ready, with supports removed. Minor surface marks from the printing process are possible and easily tidied up before painting.
