This is a figure that earns its place at the centre of a table. The High Priest is sculpted in a commanding upright stance — broad-shouldered and muscular, his upper body bare save for barnacled bracers and a spiked crown that speaks of power claimed, not gifted. In his raised right hand he holds an ornate trident, its shaft gnarled and ceremonial. Below the waist, any pretence of humanity dissolves entirely: the lower body becomes a mass of thick, curling octopus tentacles that sprawl outward across a wide scenic base, as though the sea itself is moving with him. A large sculpted octopus emblem sits at the belt-line — the sigil of his devotion made flesh. The detail carries from the suckers on each tentacle to the folds of corrupted skin across his torso, rewarding painters who enjoy working at both macro and micro scales.
