This gnarled dead tree is a commanding piece of scatter terrain that immediately sets a tone. The trunk twists and leans with age and dark energy, its bark carved by time into deep ridges and knotted whorls. The bare, reaching branches spread upward in jagged silhouette — the kind of shape that reads as wrong even before the Dungeon Master says a word. A tuft of withered scrub clings to the base, and the whole piece sits on a sculpted round base, ready to drop straight onto your battle map.

Whether you're staging an ambush on a cursed heathland, setting the scene for a Ravenloft encounter, or simply building a haunted forest that your players will still be talking about three campaigns later, this piece earns its place on the table. It works equally well as a display terrain piece — painted with contrast washes and a dry-brush of pale bark tones, it becomes a genuine centrepiece.

Encounter Hook:
The ranger notices it first — the tree at the centre of the clearing has no shadow. The sun is directly overhead, yet the ground beneath the twisted trunk is dark, as though light simply refuses to touch it. As the party approaches, the branches creak despite the still air, and the Druid's Wild Shape instinct screams to retreat. Something has been bound here. Something that's been waiting a very long time for someone foolish enough to investigate.

Scaled to 32mm and supplied with the base attached as shown. This is scatter terrain sized to complement standard 32mm miniatures on the tabletop. Ready for priming and painting straight from the box, or use as-is for unpainted tabletop play. Minor support marks may occasionally be present and can be cleaned up easily — we check every piece before it goes out.
