This is pose 02 of our Cthulid (Mind Flayer) range from Yasashii Kyojin Studio, and where many mind flayer sculpts lean into brute menace, this one is altogether more unsettling. Robed in flowing, tattered layers and clad in segmented armour with leaf-shaped pauldrons, this Cthulid stands utterly still — one hand raised to its tentacled face in quiet contemplation, the other cradling an open tome. It reads. It considers. It has already decided what to do with you.
The sculpt captures the cerebral horror that makes Illithids such compelling villains: the unhurried poise of a creature that has never needed to rush, because it has never once lost. At 45mm tall, the flowing robes and fine armour detailing make this a rewarding piece to paint, and a commanding presence on the tabletop or display shelf alike. Whether you're running an Underdark conspiracy arc or building a collection of iconic D&D aberrations, this sculpt earns its place.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Need a mind flayer BBEG or mastermind behind a psychic cult
- Are building an Underdark encounter with genuine atmosphere
- Want a D&D aberration mini that reads as intelligent, not just monstrous
- Are collectors drawn to characterful, lore-rich sculpts for the display shelf
Encounter Hook:
The party arrives in the village to find the inn's guests eating in silence — same food, same seats, same vacant smiles as three nights running. In the corner booth, a hooded figure in armoured robes turns a page without looking up. It already knows they've come. It has been waiting since before they left the last town.
Supplied unpainted and unprimed at 45mm tall (printed at 32mm scale). Available with or without a plain black display base — the base ships unattached and can be fixed with a drop of glue. As with all hand-finished resin pieces, minor surface marks may occasionally be present; these are straightforward to address before painting.
