Description
Where crystalline caverns meet cursed hunting grounds, the Crystal Guard Drake patrols with ancient, territorial instinct — a creature that has never once considered that it might lose.
- ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
- ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf
The Crystal Guard Drake is a heavyweight presence on the tabletop — a quadrupedal drake covered head to tail in layered scales, jagged dorsal spines, and clusters of rounded bony nodules that catch the light like gemstones embedded in old stone. Its swept-back crown of asymmetrical horns gives it a regal, predatory silhouette, and its long whip-like tail ends in a wicked barbed tip that makes it clear this creature is dangerous from every angle.
Mounted on a large 51mm oval base, this sculpt has real table presence. The textural contrast across the miniature is particularly noteworthy: smooth leathery hide on the underbelly and limbs transitions into heavily plated scales across the back and flanks, all topped with those distinctive spine ridges. Painters will find a wealth of surfaces to work with — dry-brushing the scales, layering the nodules, and picking out the horn details in bone or gemstone tones will reward patience generously.
Whether you're running it as a territorial beast haunting an underground crystal cavern, a mount for a draconic warlord, or simply a formidable apex predator that wandered into the wrong dungeon room, the Crystal Guard Drake brings immediate visual authority to any encounter.
Particularly well suited for adventurers who:
- Need a large-base beast encounter to anchor a dungeon room or wilderness chase
- Want a draconic creature that reads differently from a standard dragon on the table
- Enjoy miniatures with rich surface texture that reward layered painting techniques
- Are building out an underground, mountain, or elemental campaign setting
- Want a display piece that holds its own alongside larger centrepiece sculpts
Encounter Hook
The party descends into the lower chambers of the Shard Mines to recover a stolen shipment of arcane crystals — only to find the crystals are gone, the miners are missing, and a Crystal Guard Drake has claimed the entire cavern network as its territory. Its underbelly glitters faintly with swallowed gemstone fragments. Roll initiative.
