Description

Something ancient and wrong has crawled from the tidal depths, its carapace warped beyond nature, its claws large enough to sever a man at the waist.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

The Ardolinth Hardshell is no mere giant crab — it is something the sea has twisted over centuries into a creature that shouldn't exist. Its upper body heaves with spines, growths, and the remnants of a face that once belonged to something else entirely. One great claw is raised in a crushing guard, the other braced wide in a predatory stance, each limb bristling with serrated edges and chitinous armour that looks as though it has absorbed decades of failed attempts to kill it. The pebbled coastal base grounds it in a specific place — a shoreline, a sea cave, a drowned ruin — and the whole composition reads as a creature mid-advance, confident that nothing in front of it poses a real threat.

For Dungeon Masters, this is a boss encounter waiting to happen. It reads immediately as a threat — large, asymmetrical, deeply unsettling — and carries enough visual detail to reward adventurers who stop to look closely before they run. Equally at home anchoring a display shelf or terrorising a coastal campaign, the Ardolinth Hardshell holds its own whether painted or left in raw grey.

Well suited to adventurers who:

  • Run coastal, underwater, or Underdark campaigns and need a creature that belongs there
  • Want a large-format aberration boss with genuine table presence
  • Enjoy painting deeply textured creatures with layered carapace, organic growths, and dramatic scale contrast
  • Collect aberrations, monstrosities, or maritime horrors for display

Encounter Hook:
The fishing village hasn't sent a catch to market in three weeks. When the party investigates, they find the harbour deserted, the boats smashed — and claw marks in the stone quay too wide to have come from anything natural. The tide is coming in. Something is coming with it.
