Description
Something skitters in the dark beneath the dungeon floor — too many legs, too many claws, and a maw that opens wide enough to swallow a halfling whole.
- ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
- ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf
Cricket is a deeply unsettling piece of creature design: part giant insect, part subterranean predator, and entirely the sort of thing that makes players reconsider splitting the party. The sculpt captures a creature mid-lunge — four articulated legs splayed wide for stability, a pair of long serrated forelimbs raised and ready to strike, and a broad chitinous thorax bristling with barbs. The face — if you can call it that — is a horror of overlapping mandibles, curving horn-like antennae, and a gaping circular maw ringed with fangs. Flip it over and the detail continues: intricate webbed wing-casings sit folded against the creature's back, hinting at the possibility that it can fly as well as sprint. Nothing about this creature suggests it will negotiate.
Whether you need an ambush predator lurking in Underdark tunnels, a monstrous centrepiece for an insectoid hive encounter, or a display piece that draws the eye from across a shelf, Cricket earns its place at the table. It works equally well as a Monstrosity, a swarm queen, or a custom boss creature for homebrew campaigns.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Want a genuinely unsettling creature that reads as dangerous even unpainted
- Are building Underdark, hive, or subterranean dungeon encounters
- Need a multi-legged horror for Monstrosity or Giant Insect encounters in D&D 5e
- Collect creature miniatures for display as well as gaming
- Enjoy painting complex organic textures — chitin, barbs, mandibles and wing membranes
Encounter Hook:
The party descends into the flooded lower level of the ancient keep when the torchlight catches movement — dozens of pale, glistening eggs lining the walls, and standing over them, Cricket, clicking its mandibles slowly, utterly certain it has already won.
