The Crawling Claws is one of those monsters that lingers in the mind long after the session ends. This sculpt from Atlanticus Arts captures something deeply unsettling: a writhing, headless mass of fused undead limbs, knuckles pressing into the earth as it lurches forward with horrible purpose. Faces — half-formed and contorted — press outward from the body like memories trying to escape the flesh. Pustules and necrotic growths cluster across its surface, hinting at the dark magic that holds this thing together.
It moves on grasping, clawed fingers, low to the ground, leaning forward as though hunting by smell or sound alone. There is no clear front, no eyes, no mercy — just relentless, scrambling motion. Painted in sickly bone tones with deep purple veining and pale turquoise growths, this is a miniature that rewards a careful brushwork approach: washes, stippling and careful OSL on those eerie growths will bring out every horrific detail.
Whether you field it as a singular aberrant horror, a necromantic experiment gone catastrophically wrong, or the unfortunate result of a flesh-warping ritual, the Crawling Claws demands attention on the table. It also works as a centrepiece of any horror-themed display or a grim diorama piece for those who collect for the shelf as much as the game.
Also available in a 75mm variant for adventurers who want maximum detail for a display or painting project.
Particularly well suited for adventurers who:
- Run body horror, necromancy, or aberrant corruption storylines
- Want a creature that will genuinely unsettle their players at the table
- Love a challenging and rewarding miniature painting project
- Collect dark fantasy or horror-themed display pieces
- Need a memorable encounter in a dungeon, crypt, or cursed laboratory
Encounter Hook
The party hears it before they see it — a dry, rhythmic skittering from beyond the torch light, like someone drumming fingers on stone. Then the sound multiplies. As they push open the ossuary door, the floor itself seems to rise: dozens of pale, clutching hands dragging a single vast, fused form toward them. One fighter recognises a tattoo on a wrist. It was the gravedigger who let them in.
