Power rarely makes men lean, and this sculpt understands that truth entirely. The Corrupt King Command depicts a broad, heavyset nobleman caught in a moment of imperious fury — one fist raised and clenched as though delivering an ultimatum, the other hand clutching a thin rapier that hangs more as a symbol of station than as any genuine threat. He wears a richly detailed doublet with puffed sleeves and layered trim, a heavy ruff collar framing a jowled, sneering face half-obscured by windswept hair. A dramatic cloak sweeps behind him, caught mid-motion as if he has just wheeled on someone who has said entirely the wrong thing.
The detail in this sculpt rewards a patient painter. The chain of office drapes across his chest in fine linked loops. The fabric folds across his generous frame have real weight and movement to them. His expression — the slightly flared nostrils, the set jaw, the narrowed eyes — tells you everything about a man who is accustomed to compliance and is only just beginning to process the unfamiliar sensation of defiance.
As a BBEG or recurring political antagonist, he brings immediate menace without the need for a single overt weapon. He reads as a man who has others do his fighting — which, of course, makes him far more dangerous than any simple bruiser. Paint him in deep burgundy and gold for a corrupt city official, or lean into grimy greys and tarnished silver for a fallen lord whose kingdom has long since slipped away from him.
The sculpt is supplied with both a plain base and a decorative base option, giving you flexibility for how he presents on the table or display shelf.
Well suited to adventurers who:
- Need a commanding, recognisable BBEG for a political intrigue campaign
- Want a morally complex noble NPC who sits behind layers of deniability
- Are building out an urban or court setting with a memorable power figure
- Enjoy a characterful painting project with rich fabric and facial detail
Encounter Hook
The party has gathered evidence of Lord Aldric Vane's grain embargo — the one quietly starving the lower districts while his warehouses overflow. They've come to confront him in the Goldspire manor house. He doesn't reach for a weapon when they enter. He raises one thick fist and smiles thinly, and somewhere behind the party a door closes. He didn't come to this meeting alone either.
