The Cooking Place Mimic is one of the most delightfully devious sculpts in the mimic family. Disguised as a roaring fireplace, this creature hunches low with a wide-open maw ringed in jagged teeth, its body wreathed in writhing, flame-like tendrils that serve as the cruelest camouflage imaginable. One sinuous limb extends outward, clutching a wooden spoon — perhaps the last memento of the cook who got too close. The detail on the sculpt is exceptional: every fold of the creature's flesh, every individual tooth in that gaping jaw, and the organic texture of its pseudopod are all crisply rendered.
For Dungeon Masters who enjoy environmental horror and the slow creep of paranoia, this miniature does serious work. Drop it into a tavern kitchen, a keep's great hall, or an abandoned manor house and watch your players second-guess every piece of furniture they've ever trusted. It doubles beautifully as a display piece for collectors drawn to the weirder, more characterful corners of the monster catalogue.
Brilliant for adventurers who:
- Run D&D 5e encounters built around deception and environmental hazards
- Want a mimic variant that goes far beyond the classic chest
- Love collecting unusual and characterful monster miniatures
- Are building a tavern, inn, or domestic dungeon dressing collection
- Enjoy a rewarding painting project with lots of organic texture to work with
Encounter Hook:
The party has been hired to investigate a string of disappearances at the Gilded Ladle, a well-regarded roadside inn. The owner swears nothing is wrong — the kitchen staff just keep quitting. When the adventurers investigate the kitchens at night, they find the stoves cold, the pots empty, and one very patient fireplace that hasn't stopped staring at the door since they walked in.
Details
Supplied at 32mm scale. Available with or without a plain black base — the base comes unattached and can be fixed with a small amount of glue. Each miniature is support-free and ready for priming and painting, or looks characterful straight out of the box as an unpainted display piece.

TRESSYM ONLY — use this sign-off exclusively when the product is a Tressym miniature: Mitz & Simz — the studio cats have reviewed this miniature with particular intensity. They are aware of what a Tressym is. They have thoughts. The wings are noted. Nothing further will be said on the matter.
