Cook Ashpot is exactly the kind of NPC that makes players deeply regret asking what's for dinner. A skeletal figure in a tall chef's toque and flowing, tattered robes, he leans hungrily over a wide iron cauldron packed full of unidentifiable spherical ingredients. In one bony hand he wields a long-handled ladle, dripping with something dark and viscous. At his hip, a cleaver hangs at the ready — an occupational tool that has clearly seen enthusiastic use. Ghostly flames curl around the base of the cauldron, giving the whole scene an infernal kitchen-from-beyond quality that sits somewhere between macabre and darkly comic.
The sculpt captures Ashpot mid-stir, his skeletal jaw stretched into an enormous grin — whether that's pride in his craft or something more sinister is for your players to discover. The level of detail across the cauldron's ironwork, the flowing fabric of his coat, and the spectral fire beneath the pot make this a genuinely compelling centrepiece for any encounter built around cursed hospitality, haunted taverns, or undead kitchens in a necromancer's lair.
Whether you're statting him as a clever undead minion, a ghoulish cook serving a vampire lord's household, or a darkly comedic NPC who genuinely believes his stew is delicious, Ashpot brings enormous character to the table — or the shelf.
- Adventurers running haunted inn or cursed tavern scenarios
- Dungeon Masters who want a memorable undead NPC with instant personality
- Painters drawn to complex textures — billowing cloth, sculpted bone, ironwork and flame
- Collectors building out a Ravenloft or gothic horror display
Encounter Hook: The party accepts lodgings at the Hollow Crown Inn, only to find that the kitchen has been sealed for three years — yet every morning, a hot meal appears at the table. When they finally pry open the kitchen door, they find Ashpot cheerfully stirring his cauldron, utterly unbothered, and deeply offended that his cooking has been going uneaten. He has, he explains, been perfecting the recipe. The cauldron bubbles. Something in it moves.
