This Commander Kobold is no mere tunnel rat. Clad in segmented, riveted armour that covers its broad torso and limbs, this stocky lizard-kin crouches in a coiled, ready stance — haunches low, thick clawed feet planted wide, and a curling segmented tail arching high overhead like a scorpion's threat display. Bony spines ridge its back and head, and the sculpt captures a remarkable sense of bulk and menace for a creature its size. The skin texture is richly detailed with overlapping scales, and every armour plate is crisp with rivets and panel lines.
The sitting pose gives this commander a peculiar authority — not fleeing, not charging, but waiting. Calculating. It reads as a creature that has already won the encounter in its head and is simply giving you the chance to realise it. Whether you play it as a kobold warlord directing ambushes from the shadows, a scale-armoured familiar to a draconic master, or a monstrous opponent at the heart of a warren encounter, this sculpt has the presence to carry the moment.
The scale reference in the product image confirms this is a medium-sized miniature — larger and more imposing than a standard kobold, befitting a commanding officer. It sits on a flat base and is shown as an unpainted digital render in warm terracotta tones, giving you a clear read of the detail before you prime.
A great choice for adventurers who:
- Need a kobold leader or chieftain to anchor a warren encounter
- Want a characterful enemy that reads as a genuine threat despite the creature's size
- Are painting collector pieces and want a sculpt rich with surface detail
- Run Underdark or dungeon-delve campaigns and want varied kobold forces
- Are looking for a distinctive display piece with an unusual, memorable silhouette
Encounter Hook: The party follows a trail of scaled footprints deep into a collapsed mine. At the tunnel's end, crouched atop a mound of stolen equipment and flanked by a dozen scrambling kobolds, sits a heavily armoured commander — tail raised, head tilted, utterly unafraid. It speaks first, in draconic, and the words translate to: "You took longer than I expected. I had already chosen your graves."
