Cogwork Activist by Monster Atlas

In the smog-choked alleys of the mechanised city, where gears grind and pistons breathe, the Cogwork Activist rolls forward — chassis upright, one skeletal hand raised in argument, demanding rights for constructs that the guilds would rather ignore.

The Cogwork Activist is not a soldier — it is something arguably more dangerous: a thinker with a grievance. Mounted on two large spoked wheels in place of legs, its elongated humanoid frame wears a long fitted coat over a torso of articulated metal panels and exposed joint mechanisms. Circular port-like fittings adorn its shoulders, and its ribbed, skeletal fingers reach outward mid-gesture, as though mid-sentence in an impassioned speech. The smooth, featureless head is tilted slightly — attentive, insistent, unnerving in its stillness.

This sculpt rewards painters who enjoy contrast work: the layered mechanical body offers deep recesses ideal for washes, while the flowing coat provides a broad canvas for blending. Base it on cobblestones or factory grating for a street-protest atmosphere, or place it on rubble to suggest a movement that has already turned violent. Whether painted in burnished copper, tarnished iron, or gleaming white enamel, this miniature carries presence far beyond its scale.

As a character miniature, the Cogwork Activist sits comfortably as a Warforged Bard, an Artificer NPC, or a construct BBEG whose methods began as peaceful and have since escalated. It is equally compelling as a recurring faction leader across an arc-driven campaign — the kind of figure whose ideology outlives any single encounter.

Adventurers who would love this miniature:

• DMs running steampunk, Eberron, or arcane-technology campaigns
• Players building a Warforged or construct-type character with a political edge
• Collectors drawn to mechanised or non-humanoid sculpts with strong personality
• Painters who enjoy working with metal textures and structural contrast

Encounter Hook: The party is hired to escort a consignment of cogwork units to a foundry — but one of them, designation AXIOM-7, has begun broadcasting manifestos on arcane frequencies and rallying others to abandon their labour contracts. The client wants it shut down quietly. The construct wants the party to listen first.
