  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

This is pose 02 of our Cockatrice range from Novaminis, and it makes an immediate impression. The creature is sculpted mid-threat display — rearing back on its taloned feet, leathery wings fully extended with fine membrane detail across each bone spar, and its beaked maw thrown open in a rasping shriek. The dorsal spines, scaled underbelly, and heavy clawed feet are rendered with the kind of surface texture that rewards a careful paint job. Whether you're layering up ochre scales or going full feathered-serpent with contrast paints, there's real depth here to work with.

In D&D 5e, the cockatrice is a CR 1/2 monstrosity with a petrifying bite — deceptively dangerous for low-level parties who underestimate it. This sculpt captures that energy precisely: it looks like something a farmer might report near the henhouse, until it absolutely isn't. Use it as a lone wandering threat, a nest guardian, or the unwilling pet of a hag who finds its petrifying gaze rather useful.

A fine choice for adventurers who:

  • Run low-to-mid level D&D or TTRPG encounters and want a creature that looks genuinely threatening on the table
  • Are building a wilderness hex, cursed farmland, or monster hunter campaign
  • Enjoy painting creatures with complex textures — scales, membranes, and spines all in one sculpt
  • Collect monstrosities for display or as part of a bestiary shelf

Encounter Hook:
The village elder swears it's just a large bird nesting in the old grain store — but the three farmhands who went to investigate haven't moved or spoken in four days. They're still standing in the doorway, grey-faced and cold to the touch, wearing expressions of absolute surprise.
