The Clockwork Anglerfish (Land Variant) is one of the more unsettling things Mia Kay M3DM has conjured — and that is saying something. Part deep-sea predator, part arcane machine, this creature has no business being on dry land, and yet here it is, hauling its bulk forward on articulated mechanical limbs while that enormous, tooth-filled maw gapes wide enough to swallow a halfling whole.

The sculpt is dense with mechanical detail: segmented chain links, exposed cog mechanisms, coiled tubing, and layered fin-like structures that blend organic and industrial forms in genuinely unsettling fashion. The lure — that signature anglerfish protrusion — curves overhead on a flexible pipe, tipped with a bulbous node that in the right campaign could be a lantern, a sensor, or something far worse. The base features scattered gears and debris, grounding the creature firmly in a steampunk or artificer-driven setting.

This is a multipart sculpt with a choice of decorative base, plain base, or no base — giving painters and DMs full flexibility over how they want to display or deploy it.

Great for adventurers who:

  • Run steampunk or Eberron-flavoured campaigns where constructs have gone badly wrong
  • Need a memorable encounter creature that players won't see coming
  • Want a centrepiece painting project with deep mechanical texture to work into
  • Love creatures that blur the line between construct and monster

Encounter Hook

The party follows a trail of shredded copper wire and cracked cobblestones into the underbelly of a clockwork city. The artificer's guild warned them the rogue construct had been missing for three weeks — what they didn't mention was that it had been feeding. As the lantern light catches something glinting in the dark, a low mechanical grinding fills the corridor, and something very large begins to move.
