The Clockwork Anglerfish is one of those sculpts that stops you mid-scroll. Mia Kay M3DM has taken the already deeply unsettling form of an anglerfish and pushed it somewhere stranger — wrapping it in coiling pipes, industrial chains, gear housings and a bulbous mechanical lure that perches atop a curved armature like a pressure vessel waiting to burst. The body is covered in layered scales that blend organically with riveted plating, and the mouth is open wide, framed by rows of jagged teeth and a fringe of fanned fins that look as much like exhaust vanes as they do natural anatomy.

This is a creature that belongs at the intersection of the natural and the constructed — equally at home in a sunken Eberron manufactory, a steampunk undersea campaign, or as a bizarre arcane construct deployed by a mad artificer. The scenic base adds to the effect: a textured industrial platform with small pipe stubs rising from the surface, suggesting a creature that has emerged from the machinery itself rather than merely been built atop it.

The sculpt is multipart, and comes with your choice of base option — a thematic decorative base, a plain base for those who prefer their own basing style, or no base at all for diorama and conversion work.

Adventurers who'll love this one:

  • Dungeon Masters running steampunk, Eberron, or nautical campaigns who need a genuinely unsettling construct encounter
  • Painters who want a technically rich sculpt with deep surface texture — scales, pipes, chains and mechanical detail all reward careful layering
  • Collectors drawn to the creative overlap of organic creature design and industrial fabrication
  • Anyone building an aquatic or subterranean encounter with a twist of arcane horror

Encounter Hook

The artificers' guild swore the lower docks had been cleared. But as the party's skiff drifts over the flooded engine district, a single point of amber light blinks on beneath the surface — then a second, just like it, ten feet to the left. The Clockwork Anglerfish were never in the guild's inventory. Someone built these things in secret, and now they hunt on their own.
