The Clam Mimic is one of the more devious traps a Dungeon Master can lay for overconfident adventurers. Where a chest mimic preys on greed, the clam mimic preys on curiosity — nestled innocently among sea-smoothed stones or half-buried in dungeon sand, its ridged shell and single glistening pearl drawing the eye of any rogue worth their lockpicks. The moment a hand reaches for that pearl, the jaws open wide.
This sculpt captures the creature mid-reveal: the shell bursting open to expose rows of jagged, outward-curving fangs, a muscular siphon tail coiling behind it, and a body armoured with wicked spines across every ridge. The detail across the shell's segmented surface — barnacle-like nodules, layered ridges, and sharp radiating spurs — makes this a joy to paint and a genuine conversation piece on any display shelf. The set also includes a second piece: a serene open clam with a smooth pearl resting inside, the perfect false-safe prop to place beside the real threat.

Encounter Hook:
The tide has gone out and left a scatter of shells across the sea-cave floor. One of them — larger than the rest, ringed with spines, with a single lustrous pearl just visible inside — hasn't moved in an hour. The party's ranger notices it is sitting against the current, not with it. The clam mimic has been waiting since the last moon.
Details
Printed at 32mm scale. The model and decorative sandy base are separate pieces, designed to be joined with a small amount of superglue. Note that the sculpt interacts closely with its base, so displaying them together gives the fullest effect. Supplied unprimed and unpainted, ready for your brush or displayed as-is straight from the studio.
