Description

Born from the twisted experiments of a demon lord, the Chitine are part humanoid, part spider — discarded creations who clawed their way to something far more dangerous than their masters intended.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

The Chitine is one of those creatures that lands on the table and immediately makes players uneasy. This sculpt from Monster Atlas captures that unease with remarkable precision — four arms spread wide, taloned feet curled mid-lunge, a serrated blade gripped in one clawed fist whilst the remaining limbs reach forward like a predator mid-pounce. The face is the detail that lingers: wide-mouthed, fang-bared, eyes sunken beneath a crown of chitinous spines that sweep back like a grotesque crest. This is not a creature that ambushes from the shadows because it is weak — it does so because it enjoys it.

In D&D 5e lore, Chitines lurk in the Underdark, often found in the company of Choldrith or serving as frontline skirmishers in drow-adjacent encounters. Their four-armed silhouette makes them instantly readable at a distance across a crowded battlemap, and this sculpt's dynamic lunging stance communicates threat before any dice are rolled. Whether you're running a descent into the Underdark or a session in a web-choked cave system, this miniature earns its place at the table — and holds its own just as well on a display shelf.

A worthy addition for adventurers who:

  • Run Underdark campaigns and need Chitine encounters with visual punch
  • Want a four-armed skirmisher monster that reads clearly on the battlemap
  • Are building a drow-aligned encounter roster or spider-kin faction
  • Collect and paint feral humanoid monsters with exceptional sculpt detail
  • Need a memorable mid-tier threat that unsettles players without being a boss monster

Encounter Hook:
The party has been following the silk-trail for an hour when the druid notices the webs are fresh — not old and dusty, but tacky and new. The ranger's torch catches movement on the ceiling: four sets of arms, splayed wide, each one holding perfectly still. The Chitine doesn't drop until the rogue steps onto the bridge over the chasm below.

Details

Supplied at 32mm scale. The model and decorative base are separate pieces, designed to be attached with superglue — note that some sculpts interact with their base in ways that genuinely enhance the finished piece, so we'd recommend keeping them paired. The miniature arrives ready for priming and painting, or use it straight from the box if you prefer. We quality-check every piece before dispatch, though minor marks from the printing process can occasionally occur and are easily tidied up with a hobby knife or light sanding.
