Description

Where the sea folds in on itself and ships vanish without a trace, the Charybdis waits — patient, ravenous, and entirely indifferent to the prayers of sailors.

  • ✔ Resin terrain piece, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
  • ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
  • ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama

This scatter terrain piece depicts a Charybdis whirlpool in full, hungry motion — a broad, textured vortex of churning water and jagged rocky formations radiating outward from a dark, tooth-ringed central maw. The sculpt captures a distinctly organic, almost predatory quality: the swirling ridges and serrated spires suggest something between a natural phenomenon and a living creature, which is precisely what makes it so unsettling on the table. Whether you're running a nautical campaign, a flooded dungeon encounter, or a coastal hex-crawl, this piece transforms a grid square into a genuine hazard.

As a display piece, the layered texture and radial composition reward careful painting — washes, drybrushing and spot highlights on the central void can produce a genuinely striking showpiece for a shelf or diorama.

Suited to adventurers who:

  • Are running nautical, coastal, or underwater D&D and TTRPG campaigns
  • Want terrain hazards that carry genuine threat and visual weight on the battle map
  • Are building diorama or display scenes with a mythological or sea-horror theme
  • Enjoy painting complex organic textures with layered depth

Encounter Hook:
The party's longship has been becalmed for three days when the water ahead begins to rotate — slowly at first, then with terrifying purpose. A dark shape is visible at the centre, and something is rising from it. The Charybdis is not a myth. It is a DC 18 Strength saving throw and closing fast.

Scaled to 32mm. Supplied unpainted and ready for priming. The model with a simple base comes as a single attached piece; the plain base variant is supplied separately for easy gluing. Some minor imperfections from the print process are possible — any small marks or support remnants are straightforward to tidy up before painting.
