The Cerberus Puppy might be the runt of an infernal litter, but there's nothing small about the threat it presents. Each of its three heads snaps independently, one snarling low, one baring rows of jagged teeth in a wide roar, and one scanning with blank, glowing eyes that have never known mercy. Spiked ridges run along its skull and spine, and its heavy claws dig into the base with coiled, predatory tension — this creature is a heartbeat away from lunging.
Whether it's guarding the entrance to a devil's vault, prowling the lower levels of a dungeon, or serving as the 'welcoming committee' for a Yugoloth warlord, the Cerberus Puppy is a genuinely unsettling table presence. It reads as monster the moment it hits the battlemat — the kind of creature that makes players ask, nervously, whether there's a bigger version somewhere nearby.
Well-suited for adventurers who:
- Run infernal, underworld, or Nine Hells campaign arcs
- Want a multi-headed beast encounter that's visually distinct on the table
- Are building a display piece around fiend or hellscape themes
- Need a mid-tier monster that can pull double duty as a guardian or summoned creature
Encounter Hook:
The iron door at the bottom of the vault was supposed to be locked from the inside. It's open. And something on the other side is growling in three-part harmony.
