The Carrion Crawler is one of the Underdark's most efficient scavengers: a grotesque, centipede-like horror with a skull-like face, deep crimson compound eyes, and a writhing mass of paralysing tentacles where a mouth ought to be. This sculpt from Monster Atlas captures everything that makes the creature so unsettling — the segmented, bloated abdomen coiled behind a low-slung predator's stance, the clawed limbs splayed for purchase on stone floors, and that gaping maw ringed with teeth and questing feelers. Three images show the creature from different angles, giving DMs and collectors a full sense of how the piece reads on the table: front-on it's a wall of chitin and hunger; from the side, the coiled body mass makes it read as something disturbingly large for the space it occupies.
At 32mm scale this is a mid-to-large encounter piece — weighty enough to anchor a dungeon set-piece but compact enough to surprise a party rounding a corner in a tight corridor. It suits both active play on a gridded battlemat and a painted display shelf in equal measure.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Run Underdark campaigns and want a properly menacing crawler encounter
- Need a CR 2 beast with real table presence to unsettle a low-level party
- Are building a painted underdark diorama or monster display collection
- Want a centipede-type horror proxy for homebrew or OSR systems
Encounter Hook:
The party descends into a flooded fungal cavern searching for a missing dwarven scout — only to find his pack abandoned beside a half-eaten torch, and a trail of paralysed rats leading deeper into the dark. Something large has been moving through here, and the air smells of rot and damp chitin. The Crawler hasn't left. It's simply waiting for the next warm thing to stop moving.
Details
Supplied at 32mm scale. The model and base are separate pieces — attach with superglue. The decorative base is designed to complement the sculpt and the two work best together. Minis arrive support-free and ready for priming, painting, or straight to the table as-is. Minor surface marks from the printing process are possible and easily tidied up with a hobby knife or fine sandpaper.
