Captain of the Gilded Seahorse is no ordinary sea-dog. Baradin Blackbeard is sculpted mid-action atop a ship's crow's nest base — one boot braced against the rigging, blunderbuss levelled with the cold confidence of a man who has boarded a hundred ships and scuttled most of them. His feathered tricorn, heavy coat with hexagonal armour plating, knotted sash, and skull-adorned pauldron speak to decades of plunder and survival. The billowing cloak behind him and the coiled rope and splintered timber of his base give this miniature a real sense of height, drama, and sea-salt atmosphere.
Whether you cast him as a fearsome rival captain the party keeps crossing on the open water, a grizzled privateer with a bounty on his head, or a potential ally willing to offer safe passage — for a price — Baradin commands the table the moment he's placed on it. This sculpt is as well-suited to a display shelf as it is to a battle mat, with the kind of detail that rewards a careful paint job.
A good fit for adventurers who:
- Run nautical or coastal D&D campaigns — Ghosts of Saltmarsh, homebrew sea settings, or pirate-themed arcs
- Need a named NPC captain with genuine presence and personality on the table
- Want a dwarf pirate character option for a Fighter, Artificer, or Rogue player character
- Collect character minis from the Blood on the Sails range by DM Stash
Encounter Hook:
The party's ship is becalmed in open water when the Gilded Seahorse emerges from the morning mist — Baradin already has his blunderbuss raised from the crow's nest, eye locked on the party's navigator. He doesn't want a fight. He wants the sealed letter they were paid to deliver, and he's been tracking them for three ports.
Details
Printed at 32mm scale. The decorative crow's nest base is included and designed to interact with the model — Baradin is sculpted to stand within the rigging structure, so the two pieces work best assembled together. Attach with a small amount of super glue. Supplied unpainted and ready for priming.
