Bullywug by Monster Atlas
Description
The reeds go still, the mud stirs, and something broad-shouldered and very annoyed emerges clutching a bone-tipped spear.
- ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
- ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf
This Bullywug from Monster Atlas is no mere background croaker — this is a warrior of the bog, stocky and battle-ready, with the kind of expression that suggests it has been disrespected for the last time. The sculpt captures a classic Bullywug in a dynamic low stance, spear levelled and muscles coiled, every wart and webbed toe rendered with impressive detail. Whether you're running a marshland ambush or building out a frogfolk court with its own petty internal politics, this miniature brings real character to the table.
Bullywugs occupy a wonderful space in D&D lore — simultaneously threatening and faintly absurd, fiercely territorial yet easily flattered. A Bullywug chieftain convinced of his own divine right, a patrol of croaking spear-carriers guarding a sunken shrine, or a lone warrior whose swamp your party has most definitely trespassed through — this sculpt works for all of them. It's equally at home in a Saltmarsh campaign, a Ravenloft bog, or any encounter that calls for something slimy and surprisingly dangerous.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Need frogfolk warriors, guards, or tribe members for swamp-based encounters
- Are running aquatic or coastal campaigns and want richly detailed amphibian opposition
- Want a paintable miniature that rewards detail work — skin texture, weapon wrapping, and expressive face all respond brilliantly to layering
- Are building a Bullywug tribe, court, or chieftain encounter for their table
- Collect characterful humanoid monsters for display alongside their gaming collection
Encounter Hook:
The party is crossing a rope bridge over a fetid channel when the water below them erupts — three Bullywug warriors surface with spears raised, and a fourth, wearing a rusted crown and a deeply offended expression, demands to know why the adventurers have crossed the sacred ford without paying toll to King Grubwick the Undefeated.
Details
Supplied at 32mm scale. The model and decorative base are separate pieces, easily attached with superglue — note that some sculpts interact with their base, so we recommend attaching it for the best visual result. Printed at high resolution with fine detail. Supports are removed before dispatch; as with all resin printing, minor marks may occasionally remain and are simple to clean up before priming. Arrives fully cured and ready for paint or use straight from the box.
