Description

It moves without urgency, leaving a trail of bone dust on the dungeon floor — the skulls inside its ribcage shell grinning at anyone bold enough to approach.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

The Bone Whelk is one of those creatures that stops a table dead in its tracks. Part aberration, part undead curio, it carries its grim history on its back quite literally — a shell formed from interlocked ribs, with the remains of past victims visibly caged within. The sculpt captures every unsettling detail: heavily textured slug-flesh wrinkled along the body, antennae extended as though tasting the air for the living, and a small skull nestled in the hollow of the ribcage like a grim trophy. A larger skeletal form crests the top of the shell, clawed and reaching. This is a creature that tells a story before a single die is rolled.

Whether you're running a Underdark delve, a necromancer's lair, or simply want something that will genuinely unsettle your players, the Bone Whelk earns its place at the table. It also makes for a striking display piece — the kind of sculpt that draws the eye on any shelf dedicated to dark fantasy.

Well-suited to adventurers who:

  • Run D&D 5e or other TTRPG encounters and need a creature with genuine visual presence
  • Are building an Underdark, necromantic, or horror-themed campaign arc
  • Want a characterful monster that doubles as a display piece
  • Enjoy painting challenges — the texture on the slug body and the open ribcage offer excellent detail work

Encounter Hook:
The party has been tracking a necromancer through the lower tunnels when they notice the bones — not scattered, but neatly collected, as though gathered by something deliberate and slow. Then the walls begin to move, and what they took for a boulder uncurls its antennae and turns to face them.

Details

Supplied at 32mm scale. The model and base are separate pieces — a small amount of super glue will bond them securely. Note that this sculpt is designed to interact with its decorative base, and it does look its best displayed as the complete piece. As with all detailed sculpts, minor imperfections from the printing process can occasionally occur; any small marks are straightforward to address before priming.
