The Bone Claw Chase is one of those miniatures that tells its own story before a single rule is consulted. Sculpted by Epic Miniatures, this skeletal undead horror is caught mid-sprint: one leg raised, torso pitched forward, both arms outstretched with grotesquely elongated fingers ending in vicious, needle-like claws. The skull-like face — framed by small bony horns — is locked in a wide, teeth-bared grimace, conveying the relentless, mindless hunger of something that does not tire and does not stop.
The flowing robes wrapped around its gaunt frame add a surprising amount of movement and weight to the sculpt. The fabric folds and trails as though caught in the creature's own frantic momentum, which gives the piece a genuine sense of kinetic energy rarely captured at this scale. From the rear you can fully appreciate the dramatic reach of those multi-jointed arms and the skeletal feet barely touching the ground — this creature is almost airborne with predatory intent.
On a large 51mm base, this piece has genuine table presence. Whether you run it as a ghoul, a wight, a custom undead monstrosity, or an original Bone Claw creature of your own devising, it reads instantly as a threat — and it will make your players uncomfortable in exactly the right way. Painters will relish the opportunity the flowing robes offer: a pale, ghostly wash against darkened bone creates a truly unsettling contrast.
A particularly good fit for adventurers who:
- Run horror-tinged campaigns in settings like Ravenloft or the Shadowfell
- Need a fast-moving undead antagonist that looks genuinely dangerous
- Want a centrepiece enemy for a graveyard or crypt encounter
- Enjoy painting dynamic, high-detail sculpts with strong focal points
- Collect undead miniatures for display as well as the table
Encounter Hook: The party hears it before they see it — a dry, rhythmic clatter echoing off the crypt walls. Then the torchlight catches it: a skeletal figure crouched at the far end of the passage, head tilted at an unnatural angle, arms splayed wide. For a single heartbeat it is still. Then it runs.
