The Bogie Ghoul is one of those creatures that reminds players why the dark matters. Sculpted by Epic Miniatures, this miniature captures a ghoul mid-stalk — torso pitched forward, knees bent, and both hands curled into raking claws. The creature wears only a tattered pleated kilt, leaving its wiry, sinewy frame fully exposed: ridge of the spine clearly defined down the back, musculature lean and predatory rather than brutish. Wickedly elongated ears sweep back from the skull, and the face — frozen in a snarl of overlapping fangs — sells the threat entirely. There is nothing sophisticated about a Bogie Ghoul. It wants to get close, and it looks like it usually does.

The sculpt rewards painters who enjoy working across contrasting textures. The smooth, taut skin of the body plays against the pleated fabric folds of the kilt and the sharp ridges of the ear tips. The open mouth and exposed teeth offer excellent opportunities for fine detailing, while the clawed hands — fingers splayed in a reaching, grasping pose — give the model a real sense of forward momentum even at rest on the shelf. Whether you base it for a dungeon encounter, a graveyard ambush, or a haunted forest clearing, the Bogie Ghoul slots naturally into any dark-fantasy setting.

Suits adventurers who:

  • Run undead-heavy encounter tables and want a ghoul that feels genuinely menacing
  • Are building out a Ravenloft or Shadowfell campaign with atmospheric monster minis
  • Love painting creature skin, sinew and fang detail on a character that rewards the effort
  • Want a display piece that holds its own on the shelf alongside more elaborate sculpts

Encounter Hook

The party tracks a missing merchant into the old mill district — but the trail ends at a cellar door, scratched raw from the inside. As the rogue lifts the hatch, three sets of eyes catch the torchlight from below, and something shrieks. The Bogie Ghoul isn't waiting for an invitation. It already has paralytic claws raised and it's halfway up the ladder.
