The Bogie Ghoul is not the shambling, mindless undead your party has learned to dismiss. This one is mid-charge — lean muscle coiled beneath rotting skin, a rough-hewn stone-headed club gripped in both clawed hands and swung with terrifying momentum. The sculpt captures the creature at the apex of its aggression: hunched low, one knee bent mid-lunge, mouth wrenched open in a rictus snarl that shows every jagged tooth. Tufts of coarse fur ring the shoulders and the back of the neck, giving it a feral, beastlike quality that sits somewhere between ghoul and predator. A tattered skirt of layered hides hangs at its waist — the only concession to its former existence above the earth.
There is real craft in this pose. Epic Miniatures have sculpted the tension through the whole body: the forward-driving hips, the outstretched lower hand steadying the club shaft, the upper hand hauling back for the downswing. Painted in ashen bone-grey with necrotic bruising, or left ghostly pale against a graveyard base, this miniature will stop a table cold the moment it hits the mat.
As a multipart sculpt, it also benefits from good surface detail throughout — the knotted musculature, the claw-tipped feet, the rough-wrapped haft of the club — all of which paint up with excellent results at 32mm.
- Dungeon Masters running undead-heavy encounters who want a ghoul that reads as genuinely dangerous, not just a speed bump
- Painters who enjoy dynamic, action-forward poses with strong surface texture to work into
- Collectors building out a graveyard or barrow-delve display with characterful undead miniatures
- Anyone who needs a fast, fearsome skirmish piece that earns its place on both the gaming table and the display shelf
Encounter Hook: The party has been tracking a string of disappearances in the village of Ashford Hollow — shepherds, a charcoal-burner, a travelling merchant — all vanished near the old barrow on the eastern moor. When they finally descend into the burial mound at dusk, they find the entrance chamber slick with old blood, and from the darkness beyond comes the scrape of claws and the low, wet click of an open jaw. The Bogie Ghoul does not wait for them to adjust to the dark.
