Blackfang Briggs is everything a cursed pirate captain should be — skeletal, wreathed in spectral smoke, and absolutely furious that someone has dared approach his hoard. The sculpt captures him mid-manifestation, his lower body dissolving into billowing ghostly coils that spiral up from an open treasure chest spilling coins across the base. In each hand he wields a flintlock pistol, both barrels smoking, while his long wild hair streams behind him as though caught in a supernatural gale. The officer's epaulettes on his ragged coat suggest he was once a man of rank — now he is something considerably worse.

The decorative base is a centrepiece in its own right: weathered ship planking beneath a brass-banded chest overflowing with scattered gold, giving the mini tremendous narrative weight straight out of the box. The multipart construction means Briggs arrives ready for careful assembly, rewarding painters who want to pick out every wisp of ectoplasmic smoke and every coin in that cursed hoard.

Whether you field him as a ghostly boss encounter, a rival pirate lord who refused to stay dead, or the bound spirit haunting a sunken galleon, Briggs commands the table with the kind of presence that makes players reconsider their life choices.

Particularly well-suited for adventurers who:

  • Run seafaring or pirate-themed campaigns and need a memorable undead antagonist
  • Want a dramatic display piece that doubles as a tabletop encounter villain
  • Are searching for a ghost or revenant-type creature with genuine character
  • Love miniatures with rich scenic bases that tell a story before paint is even applied

Encounter Hook

The party has been hired to retrieve a merchant's stolen ledger — last seen in the possession of a pirate crew who raided his vessel three years ago. Following the trail to a fog-shrouded cove, they discover the wreck of the pirate ship half-submerged on the rocks, its cargo still sealed in the hold. The moment the first chest is opened, Blackfang Briggs erupts from the coins in a rage of smoke and pistol fire, demanding to know who has disturbed the only thing he ever truly loved.
