Young black dragons occupy a deeply unsettling middle ground — no longer the small, skittish hatchlings that clever parties might dismiss, but not yet the ancient, brooding terror that commands entire wetland territories. This sculpt captures precisely that moment of ascension. The dragon rears up on a rocky outcrop, wings fully spread and arching dramatically overhead, claws flexed and posture coiled with barely-contained aggression. There is nothing passive about this pose — this creature is moments away from a decision, and none of the options available to it are good news for the party.

The sculpt is rich with surface detail: individually defined scales running across the body in overlapping rows, prominent ridged spines cresting the skull and running down the neck, and wing membranes stretched taut between bony finger-like struts with fine veining across the surface.
