This kenku carries the unmistakable air of a wandering mystic: a tall ritual staff topped with a knotted serpentine coil rises above his eagle-like head, while a large string of prayer beads hangs across his broad, feathered chest. A round coin pendant — perhaps a holy symbol or a keepsake from a life he can no longer remember — rests at his sternum. One hand grips the staff with practised calm; the other is raised, fingers curled in the midst of a spiritual gesture or a half-formed incantation. Scaled talons grip the ground as if he is perpetually perched, ready to take flight or hold his ground.
