Beggar 04 by Novaminis

This is Beggar 04, the fourth sculpt in Novaminis' evocative NPC beggar series — and one of the most characterful of the set. She is a female elf or half-elf figure, dressed in a patched and cross-laced long skirt belted with a coil of heavy rope. Her upper body is bare-shouldered, suggesting poverty in a world where warmth is a luxury. Loose dreadlocks frame a face that is calm, almost unsettling — her pointed ears visible through the strands of hair.

What makes this sculpt particularly compelling is her pose: she carries a wooden begging bowl in one hand while extending the other arm upward with an open palm — a gesture that reads as much as a ward or a benediction as a request for alms. She is mid-stride, leaning slightly forward, weight shifting as though she has just stepped into the path of someone who was hoping to pass her by. It is a pose that tells a story before a single word of dialogue is spoken.

The detail work across the skirt — cross-stitch seams, layered fabric folds, and the braided rope belt — rewards careful painting. Washes and dry-brushing will bring out the texture of the rope and the worn cloth beautifully. This piece works brilliantly as a street NPC, an informant, a disguised oracle, or a mysterious contact in any urban or wilderness setting.

A good pick for adventurers who:

• Run gritty city campaigns with populated streets and social encounters
• Need NPC characters that feel lived-in and narratively charged
• Want a figure that could double as a disguised rogue, a fallen noble, or a street prophet
• Are building out a market district, dockside slum, or caravan waypoint scene
• Enjoy painting character-rich sculpts with strong fabric and rope detail

Encounter Hook: The party is asking around the harbour district for word of a missing merchant when a barefoot elf steps into their path, one hand raised and a begging bowl extended. She does not ask for coin — she asks for their names. And when she hears one of them, her expression shifts just enough that the rogue notices. She knows something. She has been waiting. The question is who sent her, and whether the party wants to find out.
