This is the second sculpt in Novaminis' Beggar series, and it brings a quietly unsettling energy to the table. The figure is female, barefoot, and dressed in a long patchwork robe stitched together with rough cross-stitch seams and bound at the waist with a coiled rope belt. Her long, matted hair falls forward across her face — obscuring her expression entirely — while her hands are raised: pressed together at the chest in supplication from the front, and reaching outward as though warding something off when viewed from the side. That ambiguity is the real strength of this sculpt. Is she pleading, praying, or warning?
The surface detail rewards a painter's attention. The cross-stitch pattern runs across the sleeves and down the skirt in neat rows, suggesting garments repaired countless times over. The rope belt is sculpted with a twisted braid texture, and the flowing fabric of the robe drapes convincingly across the figure's stance. Her bare feet and bare shoulders give the impression of someone stripped of most comforts — but the posture carries its own quiet dignity.
As a variation within the Beggar series, this pose reads distinctly from the first sculpt — where Beggar 01 may read as passive or defeated, this figure reads as active and charged with hidden intent. Collectors building out an NPC range or a street scene will find these two complement each other well.
Whether she's a disguised oracle, a cursed noblewoman, or simply a desperate soul who's witnessed something terrible, this miniature gives your Dungeon Master a face — or the lack of one — to anchor a scene in memory.
A fine choice for adventurers who:
- Need a memorable street NPC for city-based campaigns or urban encounters
- Run Ravenloft or gothic horror games where beggars carry dark secrets
- Want a figure that reads as ambiguous — supplicant, prophet, or something stranger
- Collect characterful NPC miniatures for display alongside their painted warbands
Encounter Hook: The party enters the market district of Waterdeep to find a single figure standing motionless in the crowd, hands outstretched, face hidden. Everyone else moves around her as though she isn't there. When the rogue attempts to pickpocket what looks like a coin pouch at her belt, the figure turns her curtained face directly toward them — and whispers the name of someone who has been dead for twenty years.
