Description

From the lightless galleries beneath the city, where magic crackles through guano-dusted corridors, the Bat Folk Wizard spreads membranous wings and levels a gnarled staff — another intruder about to learn exactly how territorial a well-read creature of the dark can be.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

The Bat Folk Wizard is a gloriously characterful sculpt — a small, hunched figure bristling with contradictions. The wide-brimmed witch's hat sits slightly askew over a flat-nosed, wide-eyed bat face, and the long coat is cinched with pouches and vials suggesting a methodical, if eccentric, magical practice. The real drama comes from the pose: one clawed hand raised palm-forward, fingers splayed with unmistakable menace, while the other grips a twisted staff topped with a curling arcane finial. Spreading from the shoulders are two broad, leathery wings, each veined and tattered at the membrane — the mark of a creature that has lived long and flown hard.

A curling tail trails behind the coat, and the overall silhouette — crouched, watchful, and quietly threatening — speaks to a wizard who prefers to let a held spell do the talking before the first word of negotiation is spoken. The sculpt rewards careful painting: the contrast between the soft organic curves of the wings and the sharp architectural lines of the staff and hat gives painters plenty of textural variety to work with. Whether you highlight the leathery wings with a dark purple wash or go full midnight black, this is a miniature that will draw eyes from across the table.

Well-suited to use as a monster encounter, a recurring NPC, or as a genuinely distinctive player character for anyone building a homebrew bat-folk race, the Wizard sits on a medium 25.5mm base and occupies a satisfying footprint on the tabletop without dominating it.

Particularly well-suited for adventurers who:

  • Need a memorable arcane antagonist for Underdark or subterranean dungeon encounters
  • Are building homebrew bat-folk or monstrous humanoid factions
  • Want a distinctive Warlock or Wizard player character miniature outside the usual humanoid archetypes
  • Enjoy painting complex organic textures — leathery wings, clawed hands, and layered robes
  • Are running a dark fantasy or gothic horror campaign needing morally ambiguous spellcasters

Encounter Hook

The party descends into the collapsed vault beneath the Merchant Quarter and finds it already occupied. A Bat Folk Wizard — robes heavy with stolen arcane components — has set up a makeshift laboratory in the ruins. He doesn't attack immediately. He raises one clawed hand and asks, quite calmly, whether they've come to bargain or to be used as experimental subjects. The staff in his other hand is already glowing.
