This basilisk sculpt from MZ4250's Monster Manual 2025 range captures the creature in a low, prowling stance that radiates threat. Every surface tells a story: rows of jagged dorsal spines run the length of a massively muscled back, thick overlapping scales cover a body built to absorb punishment, and that wide-open maw — packed with layered teeth — makes the creature's intent unmistakable. The tail coils outward behind it, and the four heavy legs are planted like it owns the ground it stands on. This is a basilisk that looks like it has turned things to stone before and will do so again without particular effort.
In D&D 5e, the basilisk is a Large monstrosity whose Petrifying Gaze can bring even a well-prepared party to a terrified standstill. Whether you're running a dungeon crawl through a cave system littered with stone-grey adventurers, a wilderness hex with something ancient lurking in the rocky outcrops, or a boss encounter in a ruined temple, this sculpt has the presence and detail to anchor the scene. It works equally well as a painted display piece — the texture across the scales and the definition of each individual spine reward careful brushwork beautifully.
Well-suited for adventurers who:
- Run D&D 5e or other TTRPG encounters featuring monstrosities or large predatory creatures
- Want a centrepiece monster with genuine table presence
- Enjoy painting highly-detailed creature sculpts with rich surface texture
- Collect fantasy creature miniatures for display as well as gaming
Encounter Hook:
The village has been reporting missing livestock for weeks — but the shepherd the party finds at the edge of the gorge isn't dead. He's standing at an odd angle, facing downhill, one arm raised as if pointing. He's been standing there for three days. Something in the ravine below is still moving.
This miniature is scaled to 32mm and comes as a single piece attached to a round base. As with all our miniatures, it arrives ready for priming and painting, or can be used straight from the box as an unpainted grey mini at the table.
