The Barbed Devil is one of the Nine Hells' most recognisable enforcers: a tall, lean predator armoured not with plate but with its own body — every inch of it bristling with serrated spines and jagged protrusions. This sculpt captures that menace precisely. The figure stands in a commanding, forward-stalking pose, one arm extended and cradling a pulsing orb of infernal energy within a cage of curved thorns. The other hand hangs loose at its side, taloned fingers spread — a creature utterly at ease with the violence it is capable of inflicting. A barbed tail curls out behind a digitigrade leg, and the crown of its head erupts in a spray of bone-like spines that give it the silhouette of something half-beast, half-living weapon. The torso is humanoid in proportion but scored with thorned ridges across the chest and abdomen, making even the act of grappling this creature a punishment in itself.

In D&D 5e, Barbed Devils serve as jailers, enforcers, and the sharp end of infernal contracts. They make brilliant mechanical foes — their Hurl Flame and Barbed Hide abilities reward DMs who like creatures that punish melee engagement — but they are equally compelling as NPCs: a warlock's patron's right hand, a devil-blooded noble's secret bodyguard, or the final consequence of a deal gone wrong. This is pose 2 of our Barbed Devil range, differentiated by its forward stride and the conjured orb, giving it a more arcane, threatening energy than a purely martial stance.

Well suited for adventurers who:

  • Need a mid-tier fiend boss for a hellish or planar encounter
  • Are building an infernal contract storyline or Nine Hells campaign arc
  • Want a warlock patron's enforcer or devil envoy as an NPC
  • Collect and paint D&D monster sculpts for display or at-the-table use

Encounter Hook:
The party's warlock receives a sending at midnight — not from their patron, but from something that works for their patron. The Barbed Devil has been dispatched to collect an overdue favour, and it has already found the inn.
