Barbarian Tribe Male Attacking by Epic Miniatures

The war cry splits the frozen air before he even crests the ridge — axe raised, chest bare to the cold, skull trophies swinging at his belt, and absolutely no intention of stopping.

This barbarian warrior is captured mid-attack — axe arm thrust high overhead, jaw dropped in a ferocious roar, and free hand balled into a fist ready for the follow-through. The pose radiates forward momentum, as if the figure has just cleared a line of enemies and is turning on whoever dared stand nearest. He wears a layered ensemble of tribal armour: a broad shoulder guard engraved with ornate knotwork, layered bracers wrapped with cord and fur, a loincloth-style lower garment edged in rough hide, and heavy boots bound with scraps of beast pelt. A horned skull hangs at his waist — a trophy, or perhaps a totem. His expression is all open-mouthed fury, brow furrowed, and every muscle on his bare torso and arms defined with the tension of the swing.
From the rear, the sculpt holds its own just as well. The knotwork etching on the back of the shoulder guard is crisp and detailed, the spine of the axe shaft cleanly rendered, and the fur trim across his boots and belt reads clearly from all angles. This is a figure that rewards painting from every direction — whether you highlight the metalwork of the axe head, wash the aged leather of his straps, or go to work on that expressive, snarling face.
Sculpted by Epic Miniatures, this piece reflects their characteristic approach to dynamic, high-detail fantasy fighters — bold proportions, expressive poses, and clean surface geometry that takes primer and paint with ease.
Well-suited for adventurers who:
- Play a Barbarian PC and want a miniature that sells the rage mechanic on the table
- Need a tribal raider, warchief, or champion to lead a warband encounter
- Run Norse-flavoured, highland, or frontier campaigns with recurring tribal factions
- Enjoy painting character-driven minis with strong facial expressions and layered textures
- Want a display piece that reads as dynamic even before the paint goes on
Encounter Hook
The village elder warned the party about the Ironjaw Clan — but hearing it described and seeing their champion charge through the longhouse door, axe already arcing down, are two very different things. He's screaming something in a dialect none of them speak, and initiative has already been rolled.
Details
This miniature is supplied unpainted on a medium 25.5mm round base. The sculpt is printed at 32mm heroic scale. Surface detail is sharp throughout — the knotwork engraving, fur texturing, cord wrapping on the bracers, and the skull trophy all hold well at tabletop viewing distance and under the magnification of a hobby lamp.
Pairs well with orc and tribal warbands and Norse and highland campaigns — or explore the full range from Epic Miniatures.
