Whether mounted atop a fortress wall, hauled across a battlefield, or lurking in the lair of a warlord who means business, a ballista changes the shape of any encounter. This sculpt from Epic Miniatures captures the weapon in confident detail — sweeping, horn-like limbs that curve out from the central rail, wrapped at their roots with wound cord and secured by studded iron fittings. The stock is built from layered timber beams, and the cocking mechanism at the rear is rendered with satisfying mechanical clarity: trigger levers, pins, and a squared butt-stock that speaks of function over elegance.
It reads as a weapon that has been used — not a ceremonial piece, but a working instrument of war. The organic curve of those limbs gives it a slightly feral character, more beast than machine, as though someone has harnessed something dangerous and pointed it at the enemy.
