Axe Beak 01 by Yasashii Kyojin Studios
Description
Something moves through the tall grass on taloned feet — too large for a bird, too fast for anything sensible to outrun.
- ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
- ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf
The axe beak is one of the more unsettling entries in the wilderness encounter table: a flightless predator the size of a warhorse, built for speed and armed with a beak shaped like a double-headed axe. This sculpt from Yasashii Kyojin Studio captures that distinctive silhouette in crisp detail — layered feathers covering a heavy-bodied frame, scaled legs ending in splayed, clawed feet, and that unmistakable curved beak tilted forward in a watchful, hungry stance. The back view reveals a tight crown of feathers at the crest and the same meticulous feather layering across the wings and flanks. Front-on, it has the posture of something that has already decided it isn't afraid of the party.
Whether you're running a prehistoric jungle biome, a plains encounter for low-level adventurers, or deploying a pack of these as mounts for a gnoll warband, this mini brings the creature off the stat block and onto the table with genuine character. It's equally at home on a display shelf for collectors who appreciate a well-realised fantasy beast sculpt.
Well suited for adventurers who:
- Run wilderness, savannah, or prehistoric-themed D&D and TTRPG encounters
- Need a mount miniature for gnolls, nomads, or exotic cavalry NPCs
- Want a distinctive low-CR beast to populate an encounter table with some visual flair
- Collect and paint fantasy creature miniatures for display
Encounter Hook:
The caravan guard said the road through the Amber Flats was safe — but that was before something stripped the lead wagon overnight and left nothing but deep three-toed prints in the dust. The tracks lead east, and there are at least six sets of them.
Scaled to 32mm. Available with or without a plain black base — the base is supplied unattached and can be fixed with a small amount of glue. Each piece is quality checked before dispatch; minor marks from the printing process may occasionally occur and can be tidied up before priming. Ready to prime and paint straight out of the box.
