Avatar of Winter by Witchsong Miniatures
Description
Where the permafrost cracks and the dead trees scream, something ancient and ravenous has torn itself free from the cold between worlds.
- ✔ Display-scale miniature — larger than standard 32mm gaming scale
- ✔ Resin printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Equally suited to display shelves and the gaming table
The Avatar of Winter is not merely a creature of ice — it is winter given malevolent will. Its body is a knot of jagged bark, splintered bone, and grasping talons, every surface erupting with frost-sharp protrusions as though the cold itself has crystallised into hunger. Arms spread wide in a reaching, predatory lunge, it moves with the inevitability of a blizzard — unhurried, unstoppable, and utterly merciless. The sculpt captures something deeply unsettling: a face half-formed from a tangle of branches, skulls pressed into the base beneath its gnarled feet as testament to those who fell before it.
Whether you run it as an elemental awakened by a shattered seal, a nature deity's wrath made manifest, or a primordial force bound to a lich's will, the Avatar of Winter commands the table with the kind of presence that makes players sit up straight. It works equally well as a centrepiece for a display shelf — the layered texture and dramatic silhouette reward careful painting with washes, drybrushing, and freehand frost effects.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Need a large-scale boss monster to anchor a winter or nature-themed campaign arc
- Are running encounters involving corrupted fey, awakened elementals, or ancient nature spirits
- Want a display-scale centrepiece that earns its place on the shelf as much as the table
- Enjoy painting highly textured, organically chaotic sculpts with strong shadow and highlight potential
Encounter Hook:
The druids of the Thornwood made a pact three centuries ago — every midwinter, a blood offering to keep the Sleeping Cold at bay. This year, the youngest druid forgot. The party arrives to find the village silent, frost coating every surface, and a trail of enormous claw marks leading into the black forest. Something woke up. Something is very, very hungry.
This miniature is printed at display scale — the base measures 80mm, making it considerably larger than standard 32mm fare, befitting its role as a boss or major encounter piece. The base is included and arrives detached for easy assembly with a small amount of glue. If you'd like a different scale, get in touch and we'll see what we can arrange. The model arrives ready for priming and painting, or can be used straight from the box as an unpainted grey miniature.
