Description

He does not threaten. He does not beg. He simply opens his arms, tilts his face upward, and the world reshapes itself around his will.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

Evard the Black is one of the most storied archmages in D&D lore — the conjurer whose name lives on in one of the most feared spells in the canon: Evard's Black Tentacles. This sculpt by Monster Atlas captures him at his most commanding: robes billowing outward as though disturbed by an unseen surge of magic, spiked pauldrons framing his shoulders, arms spread wide in a gesture that could be benediction or annihilation. His expression — eyes half-closed, lips curved in quiet satisfaction — belongs to a man who has already seen how this encounter ends.

The detail across this miniature rewards a careful brush. The layered scales of his chest armour contrast beautifully against the flowing folds of his robes and the trailing ribbon-like edges of his cloak. Whether you're using him as a legendary NPC villain, a rival archmage, a patron of dubious intent, or a collector's display piece, this sculpt carries genuine narrative weight on the tabletop.

Well suited to adventurers who:

  • Need a high-level archmage villain or morally complex NPC for their campaign
  • Are running a magic-heavy arc and want a named spellcaster with real presence
  • Play or GM for settings like Greyhawk, the Forgotten Realms, or homebrew worlds steeped in arcane intrigue
  • Collect iconic D&D characters for display alongside their adventuring party

Encounter Hook:
The party is hired to retrieve a stolen spellbook from the estate of a reclusive mage — but when they arrive, they find Evard himself standing in the ruined library, arms open, utterly calm. He tells them the book was never stolen. He sent for it. And now he'd like a word about the organisation that hired them.

Details

Printed at 32mm scale. The miniature and base are supplied as separate pieces and can be joined with superglue. The base is designed to complement the sculpt and the two interact visually, so we recommend attaching it. Supplied unprimed and unpainted, ready for your brushwork or display as-is.
