The Ankheg is one of tabletop gaming's most tactically interesting predators: part ambush hunter, part burrowing nightmare, capable of erupting from the ground mid-encounter and spraying acid with terrifying efficiency. This bundle from Yasashii Kyojin Studios brings you four distinct sculpts of this formidable insectoid beast, each captured in a different pose — from a low, scuttling hunting stance to a rearing, claw-raised attack posture, and a coiled, threatening crouch with multiple limbs splayed wide. The sculpts showcase impressive anatomical detail throughout: layered chitinous abdomens, articulated multi-jointed limbs, curved saber-like mandibles, and a broad domed carapace that reads clearly from across the table.
Whether you're populating a subterranean hex-crawl, designing an ambush encounter in farmland riddled with Ankheg burrows, or building a lair with multiple creatures at different alert states, having four varied sculpts lets you show the same monster in genuinely different moments — one prowling, one striking, one coiled in readiness. These are equally at home on a display shelf as they are in the thick of a D&D 5e encounter.
Well suited for adventurers who:
- Run subterranean or wilderness encounters where burrowing ambush predators terrorise the party
- Want to show a single creature type in multiple action states across a lair or hex map
- Are building a D&D 5e Beast encounter with genuine visual variety on the table
- Paint and collect creature miniatures and appreciate strong surface detail to work with
- Want the complete Ankheg set at better value than buying each sculpt separately
Encounter Hook:
The farmer's fields have gone eerily quiet — three homesteads abandoned in a week, soil churned in broad furrows between the buildings. As the party investigates the nearest barn, the ground twenty feet to the east splits open with a wet crack, a chitinous dome rising from the soil, mandibles already spread wide. Then the ground shifts again, closer this time. And again.
This bundle includes all four Ankheg sculpts, printed at 32mm scale. Pre-supported files are used in production to preserve fine detail across the carapace, limbs, and mandibles. Some minor clean-up of support marks may be needed, though each piece is quality checked before dispatch.
