This is no herald of a benevolent god. The Angel by The Toadstool Weaver is a deeply unsettling creature that sits at the intersection of the divine and the aberrant — a sphere of overlapping feathered wings, eyeless faces, and outstretched human arms that reach in every direction at once. It reads less like a messenger of the heavens and more like something that has studied what angels are supposed to look like and got most of the details right. Most of them.
For Dungeon Masters running campaigns that touch on corrupted celestials, Far Realm incursions, or the terrifying indifference of true divine power, this sculpt brings something genuinely unsettling to the table. It would sit equally well as a twisted seraph in a fallen temple, a manifestation summoned by a warlock whose patron has stopped making sense, or the thing behind the thing that everyone mistook for a protector.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Run campaigns featuring corrupted celestials, cosmic horror, or Far Realm influence
- Need a boss monster that will genuinely unsettle players before the encounter even starts
- Want a show-stopping centrepiece for a display shelf or painted collection
- Play warlocks, clerics, or paladins whose divine connections have taken a dark turn
Encounter Hook:
The church records describe an angel that appeared above the village seventeen years ago — it blessed the harvest and departed. This year it has returned. The crops are rotting from the centre outward, the priest has stopped sleeping, and the thing hovering above the bell tower has one more pair of wings than last time.
