This Ancient Wraith is sculpted mid-lunge, its skeletal face twisted in a rictus snarl beneath a billowing shroud that trails into tendrils of ectoplasmic fabric. Both arms are thrust forward — one hand splayed with grasping, dagger-length claws, the other raking the air in a sweeping arc — capturing the precise moment before it seizes a soul. The flowing robes spiral outward with genuine dynamism, folds catching imaginary wind as the creature accelerates toward its prey.
The integrated scenic base is a mound of scattered skulls, dozens of them in varying states of disarray, which tells a grim story about this particular wraith's history before a single brushstroke is applied. It is a base that rewards close attention and rewards careful dry-brushing even more. The miniature is multipart, giving the flowing shroud elements the crispness and depth of detail that a single-piece print at this level of complexity would struggle to achieve.
Painted with translucent glazes over a cold white primer, this wraith can glow with spectral menace. Alternatively, dark greys and sickly greens read immediately as a corrupted ghost from across the table. The skull-covered base lends itself to bone tones, chipped stone, and weathering effects that anchor the supernatural creature in a physical landscape of death.
Choose between a plain round base or the decorative skull-mound base — both options are available at checkout.
- Dungeon Masters running haunt-heavy campaigns in gothic settings
- Adventurers building an undead warband or spectral encounter set
- Painters who want a high-drama centrepiece for a Shadowfell or Ravenloft arc
- Collectors drawn to dynamic, narrative sculpts that tell a story unpainted
Encounter Hook: The party discovers the catacombs beneath Velleth Moor are not merely haunted — something has been here long enough to collect. As they push deeper, skulls begin to shift beneath their feet and a sound like tearing silk fills the dark. The Ancient Wraith has not hunted in decades. It is hungry, and it is fast.
